Dr. Douglas Bain has 34 years experience in the water treatment industry, 26 years with Dearborn and the last eight years as an independent consultant. Work involved all aspects of Boiler, Steam Turbine and Steam/Condensate system operation. Spent several years as a member of the working party studying hydrazine alternatives for the Feedwater Quality Task Group for the Industrial Boiler Subcommittee of the ASME Research Committee on Water in Thermal Power systems.

Extensive experience in utility operations. In 1976 started up Dearborn Utility Services Company (DUSCO)as a division of Dearborn specifically to service the utility industry. Involved in many aspects of utility operation from baghouse filter, mechanical dust collector and electrostatic precipitator operation for particulate removal to wet scrubber operation for SOx removal, selective catalytic reduction systems (SCR) for NOx reduction, and furnace superheater, economizer and air heater fouling.

Member of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) for the past 20 years and on the NACE Speakers Bureau for the past 15 years.

Dearborn representative to the Black Liquor Recovery Boiler Advisory Committee (BLRBAC) for many years.

Conducted over 250 independent Root Cause Failure Analysis investigations over the past 25 years, samples can be forwarded if required.

Involved in litigation on many occasions with Dearborn in personnel and Patent infringement matters and as a result have familiarity with legal proceedings having given several depositions. Also given courtroom testimony on three or four occasions.

Extensive experience in boiler design and fireside issues as well as water treatment experience helpful in those areas also.
